Gil Buenaventura, RCBC's president, passes away

Veteran banker Gil Buenaventura passed away on Monday, April 21, according to an announcement by Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC).

Buenaventura served as RCBC's president and CEO since 2016 and previously held leadership roles at DBP, BPI, and Prudential Bank.

He was appointed RCBC chief following the $81-million Bangladesh Bank fund heist in 2016.

Before joining RCBC, Buenaventura worked as the head of BPI's Corporate Banking Group and its senior executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Buenaventura earned his economics degree from the University of San Francisco in 1973 and a master’s in business administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1975.
