Gibo Teodoro returns as Defense chief

Gilbert 'Gibo' Teodoro was appointed as the new Defense Secretary by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., returning to the position he held under former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Teodoro, a lawyer and political analyst with previous experience in national defense and military matters, is seen as having the legal expertise to address territorial tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

Political analysts believe Teodoro's familiarity with the Defense department will allow him to hit the ground running, given his prior connections within the military.
