Germany edges Latvia, sets up tough semifinal vs Team USA

Germany secured a narrow 81-79 victory over Latvia in the FIBA Basketball World Cup quarterfinals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.

Despite building a ten-point lead late in the game, Germany's Dennis Schroder missed a crucial shot with seven seconds left, allowing Latvia one last chance to win but Davis Bertans' three-pointer was off target.

Germany now faces Team USA in the semifinals after the American team easily defeated Italy 100-63.

German captain Dennis Schroder acknowledged that while they will celebrate their victory, preparing for Team USA will be a significant challenge.
