GCash, Mastercard launch 'Tap n' Pay' contactless payments

GCash has partnered with Mastercard to introduce a new contactless payment feature called 'Tap n' Pay', allowing users to make payments by tapping their NFC-enabled Android phones on POS terminals.

To use this feature, GCash users must be in locations where Mastercard is accepted and have an active internet or cellular data connection.

The partnership aims to provide faster, more secure, and convenient transactions for Filipino consumers, making everyday purchases easier.

Mastercard's country manager for the Philippines emphasized that these contactless payments are now available nationwide with plans to expand internationally soon.

GCash president Ren-Ren Reyes highlighted the company's commitment to offering secure cashless payment solutions, underscoring its growing importance in the Philippine market.

OpenFabric, GCash's digital payment partner, plays a vital role by enabling Mastercard tokens and managing transaction gateways for smooth and secure 'Tap n' Pay' experiences at POS terminals.
