Gatchalian urges suspended Mayor Alice Guo to surrender amid immigration hold order

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian called on suspended Mayor Alice Guo to voluntarily surrender to the Senate to address allegations against her.

Gatchalian expressed confidence that Guo is still in the Philippines due to a hold departure order issued by the Bureau of Immigration, preventing her from leaving via airports or seaports and limiting her freedom of movement.

The senator urged Guo to turn herself in because she cannot live normally amid the arrest order and faces restrictions on her movements and activities.

Gatchalian noted that the deactivation of Guo's Facebook page is a sign that she is hiding from scrutiny, emphasizing that her life would not be normal if she goes into hiding.

The Senate committee is investigating Guo for her involvement in an illegal POGO hub raid and questioning her citizenship due to inconsistencies in her background and documentation.

Gatchalian said he intends to look deeper into Guo's alleged partners, the money laundering side, as well as other people who have ties with the local official, including Nancy Gamo, her alleged accountant who is now under Senate custody.
