Duque defends self against Garin's vaccine trust accusation

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III defended himself against Iloilo Representative Janette Garin's accusation that he contributed to the loss of public trust in vaccines.

Duque said Garin was mistaken, pointing out that PAO's (Public Attorney's Office) continuous filing of cases regarding the Dengvaxia program implementation during her term as health secretary led to the controversy.

He emphasized that the decision to implement the Dengvaxia vaccination program was made while Garin was in charge at DOH and noted that he terminated the program after Sanofi disclosed serious adverse effects for children without a history of dengue infection.
