Galvez condemns Basilan ambush, calls for MILF probe

Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. condemned Wednesday's ambush in Basilan, which left two soldiers dead and 12 others wounded.

Galvez called on the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to conduct its own investigation into the attack, which he described as a 'cowardly act' targeting peace efforts.

The incident involved troops from the 32nd Infantry Battalion providing security for UNDP personnel in Barangay Lower Cabengbeng, Sumisip, Basilan.

Government agencies are deploying various peace mechanisms to de-escalate tensions and ensure justice is served.

Philippine military officials vowed to pursue the perpetrators and provide full support to the injured soldiers and their families.
