DTI proposes full operation of some sectors under GCQ

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez proposes allowing some sectors of the economy to operate at full capacity under general community quarantine (GCQ) to boost economic activity.

The Philippine Association of Meat Processors, Inc. supports this proposal, stating that prolonged lockdowns will not drive away COVID-19 but could force more Filipinos out of jobs.

Lopez suggests businesses such as legal and accounting services, financial services, management consultancy, architecture and engineering, advertising, market research, computer programming, publishing and printing, film production, recruitment agencies for overseas employment, photography services, and wholesale-retail trade can operate at full capacity if employees do not interact closely with each other.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) supports opening up more sectors provided the public maintains minimum health standards.
