Free MRT-LRT rides for seafarers on June 25
Metro Manila rail systems will offer free rides to seafarers on Wednesday, June 25, in celebration of the Day of the Filipino Seafarer.
In partnership with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced this initiative, which includes complimentary trips for seafarers starting at specific times.
Seafarers can use the free rides on the MRT-3 from 5:30 a.m. until the end of operations and on the LRT-2 during rush hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
To avail of these services, seafarers need to present their Seafarer's Record Book (SRB), Seafarer's Identity Document (SID), or Seafarer's Identification Booklet (SIB) at ticketing booths.
In addition to the free rides, the DOTr and MARINA will hold the '2025 Gawad Natatanging Mandaragat' to recognize outstanding seafarers for their contributions to maritime safety and innovation.
MARINA will also host a job fair in Rizal Park Hotel on Wednesday to provide employment opportunities in the maritime sector.
