Free electric shuttles debut at Camp John Hay

Starting July 15, visitors at Camp John Hay in Baguio City will be able to ride free electric vehicle shuttles during a six-month trial period.

The pilot program, called 'John Hay Loop', involves three electric vehicles and is a partnership between the BCDA, John Hay Management Corp., DeviceDesign Co. Ltd., and CBSTC.

BCDA President Joshua Bingcang stated that this initiative aims to improve accessibility, reduce traffic congestion, promote eco-friendly transport, and address urban issues while preserving Baguio's natural beauty.

DeviceDesign and CBSTC will monitor commuter experience and operational data during the trial period to provide recommendations for long-term implementation.

Without private vehicles, visitors currently rely on jeepneys that stop only at the gates or taxis which are scarce when exiting the site.

The BCDA took control of Camp John Hay in January after legal rulings upheld its right to manage the property, with plans for P10 billion worth of investments from lease agreements.
