Fourteen senators file COCs on first day

Fourteen aspiring senators filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) on the first day of the eight-day filing period at the Sofitel hotel in Pasay City.

Antique Rep. and House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda was the first to file her COC, running under the National People's Coalition party.

Legarda previously served as a senator from 1998 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2019, chairing several committees including finance, foreign relations, economic affairs, environment, and climate change.

She expressed confidence in her ability to craft laws that help the people during the pandemic and emphasized her experience as a former majority leader and senator for three terms.
