4 Sorsogon towns, including Juban, under state of calamity due to Kristine

Four towns in Sorsogon province, including Juban as the latest addition, have been placed under a state of calamity due to the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

Juban Councilor Ryan De Jesus proposed the motion for the declaration, which was approved by the Municipal Council on Friday, October 25.

The resolution highlights the severe impact of the storm, including massive flooding and infrastructure damage.

Earlier this week, Bulan, Donsol, and Matnog also declared states of calamity due to disruptions in local economies and communities.

Mayor Cattleya So recommended the declaration for Matnog after low-lying and coastal villages were submerged by floods.

Bulan was the first town to declare a state of calamity on Wednesday.
