Megaworld president recognized by Forbes 50 Over 50 list

Megaworld Corp. president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of its inaugural 50 Over 50 Global list members, marking her second recognition from the publication in less than a month.

Alfonso took over the role in June 2024 from company founder Andrew Tan and leads Megaworld through a challenging real estate market and high borrowing costs.

The 61-year-old executive is overseeing a $6.1-billion expansion plan for the next five years, with two new townships set to launch this year in key growth areas of Luzon and Visayas.

Forbes highlights that Alfonso faces tight competition from rivals expanding their hotel offerings while Megaworld focuses on building its real estate empire outside Metro Manila.

Last November, Forbes also named Alfonso one of the 20 outstanding women leaders in Asia for her leadership during global economic uncertainties.
