Silva-Campo named first female two-star general in Philippine Coast Guard

Rear Admiral Mitzie Silva-Campo was named the first woman to reach the rank of two-star general in the Philippine Coast Guard on March 25.

Silva-Campo took her oath as Rear Admiral before Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday, March 31, and her appointment has been hailed as a 'remarkable milestone' by Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, who congratulated Silva-Campo for inspiring women leaders across the country.

Previously, Silva-Campo held several pioneering roles including being the first female one-star general in October 2021 and Inspector General of the Coast Guard Inspector General-Internal Affairs Service.

PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan praised Silva-Campo's leadership, emphasizing how this historical milestone proves the Coast Guard's strong advocacy on women empowerment by providing equal opportunities to both men and women in service.

Silva-Campo has an extensive educational background with degrees from Cor Jesu College and the World Maritime University in Malmö, Sweden, and completed international training programs in Japan and Australia.
