Filipino cue artists advance in World Pool Championship

Fourteen Filipino cue artists secured their opening matches at the World Pool Championship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Carlo Biado and six other Filipinos advanced to the round-of-16 following knockout stage victories, setting up an all-Filipino showdown with Jeffrey Ignacio after Biado defeated Chris Melling and Wiktor Zielinski.

Bernie Regalario and Patric Gonzales also joined the quarterfinals by defeating Dimitris Loukatos, Lo Ho Sum, Tobias Bongers, and Eklent Kaci.

Jefrey Roda, Anton Raga, and James Aranas also progressed through their matches against Fu Che Wei, Jayson Shaw, Fahad Aldhayan, Johann Chua, David Alcaide, and Mickey Krause.

The Filipino players now aim to secure one of the 64 spots available or advance through the loser's bracket, with a strong contingent left in the tournament facing defending champion Fedor Gorst.
