Filipino Catholics in UAE mourn Pope Francis

The Filipino Catholic community across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) mourns the death of Pope Francis, who passed away on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025. A Remembrance Corner has been set up inside St. Joseph Cathedral in Abu Dhabi to honor his memory.

Pope Francis was remembered for his humility and compassion towards the marginalized. He visited Abu Dhabi in 2019 and left a lasting impression on many Filipinos there.

Individuals like Jessa Albao, Raquel Arsenio Caseno, Richelle Dayo Rondilla, Mirafil Mendoza-Calag, Cyrel Manzano, and Ridel Lape shared their personal experiences and feelings about Pope Francis's impact on their lives.

Catholic groups such as Couples for Christ (CFC) have called on members to include Pope Francis in daily prayers and reflect on his values of humility, compassion, and unity.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia has organized memorial masses at St. Joseph Cathedral on the day of Pope Francis's death and at the Church of St. Francis in Abrahamic Family House for continued remembrance.
