Filipino Brother Armin Luistro appointed to Vatican Dicastery

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Filipino De La Salle Brother Armin Luistro to join 19 new members in the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

Luistro, who was elected as the Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in 2022, becomes the first Asian to hold this position.

The Dicastery oversees matters related to religious orders, congregations, and secular institutes, promoting and regulating consecrated communities globally.

For the global Lasallian community, Luistro's appointment is seen as a sign of unity with the Church’s synodal path.

Before his current role, Luistro served as president of De La Salle Philippines and headed the Department of Education under President Benigno Aquino III.
