Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo named One Young World ambassador for AI language preservation

Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo, founder of NightOwlGPT, has been named one of five One Young World global ambassadors for her work in using artificial intelligence (AI) to preserve endangered languages.

NightOwlGPT focuses on developing NLP models tailored for low-resource languages with complex structures and has translated over two million words, fostering greater cultural understanding through education.

The platform addresses the critical issue of language extinction, which threatens 44% of the world's languages and the cultural identity and communication abilities of millions worldwide.

Anna Mae plans to expand NightOwlGPT's reach to Ghana, Pakistan, and Colombia within five years, furthering its impact on global linguistic preservation.

Alongside Lamentillo, four other ambassadors were recognized for their use of AI in social good initiatives: Isabel Pulido, Jose Zea, Gitanjali Rao, and Arhum Ishtiaq.

Last February 18, Lamentillo received the She Shapes AI Award for AI and Learning at the University College of London.
