Filipinas top Group G favorites for 2026 Women's Asian Cup

The Philippine women's national football team has been placed in Group G for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers scheduled from June 23 to July 5.

Filipinas will compete against Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia, with the latter three ranked lower than Filipinas at 118th, 80th, and 166th respectively in FIFA rankings.

Ranked 41st globally, Filipinas are the highest-ranked team in their group and are favored to top Group G due to their recent success in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup where they secured a historic victory over New Zealand.

The draw took place on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with 38 teams divided into eight groups. Only the winners of each group will advance to the final tournament in Australia next year, which already includes hosts Australia and the top three finishers from the 2022 edition: China, South Korea, and Japan.

In the 2022 Women's Asian Cup, Filipinas reached the semifinals before losing to South Korea, securing their spot in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
