Filipina IOC official Cojuangco-Jaworski appointed Brisbane 2032 Olympic chair

Filipina sports official Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski has been appointed as the new Chair of the IOC Coordination Commission for the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane, Australia.

Outgoing IOC President Thomas Bach announced Jaworski's appointment following Kirsty Coventry's resignation and election as the next IOC president.

In her new role, Cojuangco-Jaworski will oversee the planning and delivery of the Brisbane Olympics to ensure high standards for athletes, fans, and communities.

Her extensive experience as an IOC Executive Board member since 2020 and her contacts in Australia, where she trained for 20 years as an equestrian, are expected to be beneficial for her new role.

Cojuangco-Jaworski, a gold medalist at the Asian Games in 2002, has been part of the IOC since 2013 and will work closely with the organizing committee, local authorities, and sports federations.

The Philippines has seen significant success in recent Olympics editions, including Hidilyn Diaz's historic gold win in Tokyo 2021 and Carlos Yulo's two gold medals in Paris last year.
