Torres-Gomez: Fear of abuse not reason to reject anti-terror bill

Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez defended the controversial anti-terrorism bill, saying fears of abuse should not be grounds to reject important measures.

Torres-Gomez argued that the proposed law does not change judicial authority and emphasized the need for preventive measures against terrorism.

She noted that while concerns about wrongful arrests are valid, the risk of terror attacks must also be considered.

The representative added that safeguards within the bill aim to prevent abuse.
