FDA approves Sinovac EUA for kids 6 and above

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the emergency use authorization (EUA) for Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine to be used for children aged 6 years and above.

Vaccine experts are drafting implementing guidelines for administering the vaccine, as the EUA specifies its use for healthy individuals only.

Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje noted that further assessment is needed for children with comorbidities.

The DOH will issue implementing guidelines based on expert inputs before proceeding with pediatric vaccination.
