Ex-PBA player sells JRU jersey, VP letter

Former PBA player John Amores sold his Jose Rizal University jersey and a letter from Vice President Sara Duterte to Filipino content creator Boss Toyo for P67,500.

Amores initially requested P200,000 for the package but eventually accepted the lower offer after Boss Toyo pointed out that even signed jerseys of other great players can be bought within P70,000 to P80,000.

The jersey in question was worn during a November 2022 brawl where Amores threw punches at several players from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in the NCAA Season 98 men's basketball tournament.

Following this incident, Amores faced an indefinite suspension from the league and expulsion from JRU’s athletics program.

Duterte sent the letter to Amores a month after the brawl, offering support and advice.

Amores is currently out on bail while awaiting trial for attempted homicide following another incident involving a gun-related altercation in Laguna and his professional license has been revoked by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).
