EU launches grants for green waste reduction and education in PH

The European Union (EU) has launched two new grant programs to support green initiatives in the Philippines, focusing on reducing waste and promoting environmental education.

These grants, part of the EU Green Economy Partnership with the Philippines, will fund projects in 10 partner local government units across the country until May 5.

Eligible groups can apply for up to USD80,000 or USD30,000 per local government unit respectively, aimed at building institutional capacities and improving awareness around circular economy principles.

The grants will focus on institutionalizing the role of the informal waste sector and promoting inclusion in environmental initiatives.

Led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), these initiatives aim to build greener, more resilient communities.
