Estelito Mendoza, former solicitor general and prominent lawyer, dies at 95

Estelito Mendoza, former solicitor general under President Ferdinand Marcos and a prominent lawyer, has passed away at the age of 95.

Philippine National Bank, where Mendoza served as a director since 2009, was one of the first to announce his death in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Juan Ponce Enrile, chief presidential legal counsel and a longtime friend of Mendoza, described him as a brilliant lawyer and his best friend.

Mendoza earned his law degree from the University of the Philippines in 1952 and later obtained a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School in 1954.

Throughout his career, Mendoza held significant roles such as minister of justice under Marcos and governor of Pampanga.
