Escudero signs DAED for new Senate building, sets Dec 2026-Dec 2027 completion

Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero announced on Thursday that he has signed the Detailed Architecture and Engineering Design (DAED) for the new Senate building in Taguig City.

Escudero emphasized this is the first time a DAED has been completed since construction began in 2019, noting its importance as a roadmap for the project.

Upon assuming office last year, Escudero ordered a review of the project and stated that due to the lack of a DAED since 2012, he could now confidently provide completion estimates: December 2026 at the earliest and December 2027 as the latest.

A total of P4.2 billion was allocated for the project in the 109th Congress' national budget, bringing the total allocation since 2018 to P23.5 billion.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano previously claimed that the building is the 'most expensive' in the country, despite Escudero's reassurance during an inspection in February that it was not overpriced.
