Ermita police chief relieved for social distancing failure at Manila Bay beach opening

The head of the Ermita Police Station in Manila was relieved from his post after failing to maintain social distancing measures during the opening of an artificial white sand beach along Manila Bay.

Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, director of the Manila Police District, confirmed that Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Caramoan was administratively relieved and will be reassigned to MPD headquarters.

Photos from the event showed crowds gathered without following physical distancing protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
