Eid al-Fitr prayers held peacefully in Central Mindanao despite rain

Despite inclement weather, Eid al-Fitr prayers were held outdoors in many areas of Central Mindanao on Monday, March 31.

Muslims gathered early for the prayers led by Islamic missionaries, with security provided by soldiers, police, and local officials.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Macapaz and Major Gen. Donald Gumiran confirmed that the congregational prayers were peaceful in their jurisdictions.

Heavy rain affected parts of Central Mindanao and the Bangsamoro region before the prayers but did not deter thousands from participating.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, one of Islam's five pillars which includes fasting during daylight hours for a month.
