Duterte worried Omicron may cause new surge amid depleted funds

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed concern over the possibility of the Omicron variant causing another surge in COVID-19 cases, noting that government funds are depleted.

Duterte emphasized his worry during his regular Talk to the People on Tuesday, stating that additional expenses for typhoon relief operations have further strained the budget.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III had reported at least three imported Omicron cases in the Philippines.
