Sara Duterte's spox joins legal team for impeachment trial

Former Vice President Sara Duterte's spokesperson Michael Poa has officially joined her legal team for the upcoming impeachment trial.

On Monday, March 3, Poa filed an entry of appearance before the Supreme Court to formalize his role in Duterte’s defense, confirming his decision after discussions with her.

Poa will collaborate closely with the rest of the legal team, particularly focusing on the petition challenging the validity and constitutionality of the fourth impeachment complaint against Duterte.

Duterte argues that the House violated the 'one-year bar' rule by initiating impeachment proceedings within a year of previous complaints against her.

Three impeachment complaints were filed against Duterte in December 2024, all of which are connected with the alleged misuse of confidential funds.

The fourth impeachment complaint was endorsed by more than 200 lawmakers on February 5 and transmitted to the Senate on the same day.
