Duterte appoints Sanchez-Montano as new PCW chief

President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Sandra Sanchez-Montano as the new chairperson of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) on July 9.

Montano replaces Rhodora Bucoy, who resigned on July 7.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed Montano's appointment via text message to reporters.

The PCW denied rumors that Bucoy was fired by Duterte and stated they had not received any notice from the Office of the President regarding her replacement until after her resignation.
