Duterte maintains 91% approval despite poor pandemic response

President Rodrigo Duterte maintains high approval and trust ratings at 91%, despite the Philippines having the highest number of coronavirus cases in Southeast Asia.

The latest Pulse Asia survey shows Duterte's performance rating increased by 4% from December 2019, with disapproval remaining low at only 5%.

Duterte's popularity is particularly strong among the poorest Filipinos and contrasts sharply with the country's poor pandemic response and economic recession.
