Duterte may ask China for help if COVID-19 worsens

President Duterte said he will seek China's help if the COVID-19 situation worsens.

Duterte praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for handling the crisis well and expressed hope that it would not reach the point where assistance is needed.

During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian, Duterte extended sympathy to those affected by the virus in China and noted Xi's effective management of the health emergency.

The Philippines has 49 confirmed cases of COVID-19 while China has managed to curb the spread within its borders.

Duterte and Huang also discussed continued economic cooperation between the two countries.
