Duterte bloc undecided on Senate President pick

The 'Duterte bloc' in the Senate has not decided on who they will support for Senate President in the upcoming 20th Congress, according to Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa stated that they are waiting for Robin Padilla's return from abroad before making a decision and have discussed the matter with other bloc members including Imee Marcos and Bong Go.

The bloc has not yet talked to Senate-elect Camille Villar or the group of Senators-elect Tito Sotto and Panfilo 'Ping' Lacson about joining their bloc.

Dela Rosa emphasized that they are open to supporting other qualified candidates like Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, who was a Cabinet member under former President Duterte, and former Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, and not limited to current frontrunners Vicente 'Vico' Sotto or Francis Escudero.

Regarding the upcoming impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte, Dela Rosa said it should not push through but he is prepared for his role as a senator-judge if necessary.
