DTS Sec Dizon directs LTFRB to file charges against bus conductor who tasered PWD

Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced on Monday that he would direct the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to file criminal charges against a bus conductor accused of tasering a person with disability.

The license of both the driver and conductor involved in the incident has been suspended, according to Dizon, who emphasized their responsibility to ensure passenger safety.

Based on the investigation, Dizon stated that the penalty should extend beyond suspension as the conductor allegedly used a taser against a PWD, which is considered a criminal act.

A 25-year-old PWD was reportedly ganged up on and tased after he allegedly bit passengers inside a Precious Grace Transport bus traveling on EDSA on June 9.

The LTFRB has issued a show cause order asking the operator and conductor to explain the incident, with a hearing scheduled for June 25.

Dizon reminded operators of their duty to prioritize passenger safety and stressed that failure to do so could result in legal consequences.
