DTI, DepEd launch e-commerce track for SHS students

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Education (DepEd), and Thames International School Inc. launched an e-commerce track for senior high school students on Thursday.

Trade Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual, DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo M. Angara, and Thames International co-founder Jaime Noel J. Santos signed a memorandum of agreement in Makati City to equip students with technical skills needed for the growing e-commerce industry.

The new track aims to prepare students as job creators and innovators, targeting 1,000 students this year and scaling up to 50,000 SHS students within three to four years.

Thames International plans to implement the program in around 50 schools across National Capital Region, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon regions, with a train-the-trainer program for replication in DepEd schools.

The e-commerce track will be considered in the ongoing review and revision of the senior high school curriculum.
