DSWD's AICS helps over 953k Filipinos with PHP8.5B aid in first half 2025

Over 953,560 Filipinos received medical assistance under the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program from January to June 2025.

The DSWD reported that its Operations Group's Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) provided aid worth more than PHP8.5 billion, with 670,825 clients receiving cash assistance and 282,735 issued guarantee letters for medical expenses.

DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao highlighted the program's importance in helping families cope with sudden illnesses or emergencies that can cause significant financial strain.

Among those benefiting were Mary Rose Hermosure from Tondo, Manila, who received PHP300,000 to pay her mother’s hospital bill, and baby Audria, an 18-month-old leukemia patient whose chemotherapy proceeded smoothly due to DSWD support.

Since its inception in 2014, the AICS program has served more than 8.5 million clients, demonstrating its ongoing impact on crisis intervention across the country.
