DSWD warns against politicizing Pantawid Pamilya

On Wednesday, March 5, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reminded beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program to be wary of political candidates using the program for electoral gain.

Marie Grace Ponce, chief of the DSWD's 4Ps Social Marketing Division, warned during an online information session against politicians claiming influence over a beneficiary’s status in the program and stressed that only the DSWD has the authority to enroll or remove individuals from the 4Ps.

Ponce emphasized that delisting follows strict legal guidelines and cannot be done arbitrarily, reinforcing that government assistance programs should not be used for political purposes.

To prevent political interference with its services, the DSWD issued Memorandum Circular No. 9, S. 2021, which outlines guidelines for maintaining partnerships during election periods.

While meetings involving 4Ps beneficiaries are permitted, they must not be used to promote any political candidate or agenda.
