DSWD seeks increased funding for 4Ps from Congress

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is seeking increased funding from Congress for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Agri party-list Rep. Wilbert Lee cited a Philippine Institute for Development Studies report indicating that due to inflation and the pandemic, the value of 4Ps cash grants has significantly decreased.

Lee noted that the maximum annual grant of P31,200 in 2019 is now worth only P14,524.

DSWD budget sponsor Jocelyn Limkaichong said the agency supports increasing funds for 4Ps and will cooperate with Congress if it decides to allocate more resources.
