DSWD releases PHP31.26M aid to 12,670 poor Eastern Visayas students

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released PHP31.26 million to assist 12,670 poor students in Eastern Visayas.

Of this amount, 4,229 elementary students received P1,500 each, 2,602 secondary level students got P2,000 each, 1,525 senior high school students received P3,000 each, and 4,314 college students were given P4,000 each.

The DSWD will continue distributing the aid on three Saturdays in September to accommodate more applicants, but new applications are temporarily halted due to processing delays.

DSWD regional information officer Jonalyndie Chua stated that approximately 310,000 students have applied for assistance and the department is ensuring there's no duplication of entries.
