DSWD aids 739 displaced families in Davao, 400 in Soccsksargen

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is providing assistance to families displaced by flash floods caused by heavy rainfall from the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) in Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN.

As of Saturday, DSWD FO-11 has distributed 887 family food packs worth PHP541,070 to affected areas and is coordinating with local government units that have open evacuation centers.

Currently, around 739 families or 7,158 individuals are staying in five evacuation centers in Davao Occidental, with the DSWD ready to provide additional food and non-food items if needed.

In Region 12 (Soccsksargen), where the ITCZ is also affecting Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat, the DSWD has provided PHP86,000 in relief aid to residents of Alabel town in Sarangani.

Approximately 400 families or 1,600 individuals are staying in evacuation centers in General Santos City, Alabel, and Glan in Sarangani, with DSWD staff on standby to assist local disaster operations during the holidays.
