DOTr recommends increasing PUV passenger capacity

The DOTr is recommending an increase in passenger capacity for PUVs in Metro Manila following the downgrade from Alert Level 4 to 3.

Assistant Secretary Steve Pastor stated during a press briefing on Monday that increasing the current 50% passenger limit would help both commuters and transport operators.

Pastor noted that the proposal will be submitted to the IATF, which manages the country's response to the pandemic.

He emphasized that raising PUV capacity would address growing operational costs for transport companies and support the business sector's call for more robust economic activities.
