DOTr announces partial MRT-7 operations by Q4 2025

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that partial operations for twelve Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) stations in Quezon City will begin by the last quarter of 2025.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista confirmed during budget deliberations that the North Avenue station to Quirino station will be operational next year, with Tala station expected to open in 2026 and San Jose station no earlier than 2027.

San Miguel Corp., which is building MRT-7, said partial operations would proceed as planned for next year but completion of the line up to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, may be delayed until 2028 due to local government considerations.

The MRT-7 line spans 22 kilometers and includes 14 stations from Quezon North Avenue Joint Station to San Jose del Monte, with an overall progress rate of 69.86% as of April 2024.

Once fully operational, the MRT-7 is expected to reduce travel time between Quezon City and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to just 35 minutes, with an estimated 300,000 passengers in its first year.
