DOTr adjusts train schedules for holiday rush

On Thursday, the Department of Transportation announced schedule adjustments for Metro Manila train lines to accommodate the holiday rush starting December 16.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said trains will operate earlier in the morning and later into the night on select days during Christmas and New Year celebrations, allowing rail employees more time with their families.

For LRT Line 1, trains will begin their first trip at 4:30 a.m. instead of 5:00 a.m. on December 20, while LRT Line 2 will open at 5:00 a.m. from December 17 to December 24 and December 31.

MRT Line 3 will start its first commercial trip at 4:30 a.m. and extend operating hours until late night on select days before reverting to regular hours post-holiday, with the last train departing North Avenue Station at 10:34 p.m. and Taft Avenue at 11:08 p.m.

The DOTr provided detailed adjusted schedules for LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 from December 16, 2024, to January 2, 2025, advising passengers to plan their trips accordingly.
