DOTr ends agreement with BF Corp for delayed Common Station

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) terminated its agreement with BF Corporation and Foresight Development and Surveying Company Consortium on Friday due to excessive delays in constructing the Common Station for LRT1, MRT3, and MRT7 lines.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the DOTr to expedite the project, which has been ongoing since 2009, to ease travel time for commuters.

DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon stated that construction delays have stalled progress since August 2024, hindering traffic flow and causing inconvenience to motorists and commuters.

Dizon expressed optimism about restarting construction immediately under the New Government Procurement Act or Public-Private Partnership Code to expedite the project's completion.

He emphasized the importance of the Common Station for commuters, noting it would significantly improve their travel experience.

BF Corp., which secured the construction contract in 2019 but has encountered major setbacks since then due to disputes over station location and the COVID-19 pandemic, was removed from the project.
