DOT leads PHP10M TRA groundbreaking in Lingayen

The Department of Tourism led a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Lingayen, Pangasinan on Thursday.

Funded with PHP10 million under TIEZA, the TRA will include amenities such as a tourist information center, accessible restrooms, a breastfeeding station, and internet access areas.

DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco and Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III formalized the project by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Thursday at the Sison Auditorium.

The TRA will be managed locally by Lingayen to ensure proper upkeep and efficient service once completed, aiming to encourage longer stays in Pangasinan which currently attracts mostly short-term visitors.

Frasco emphasized that improving tourism infrastructure is a priority under the Marcos administration, recognizing its role in enhancing global competitiveness of local destinations.
