DOLE raises kasambahay wages by P1,000 in Calabarzon

Domestic workers or 'kasambahays' in Region IV-A (Calabarzon) are set to receive a wage increase following an announcement by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Saturday.

Under DOLE Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-04, which was approved on January 22 and published on February 3, the monthly minimum wages for kasambahays will rise by P1,000, effective February 14.

In cities and first-class municipalities, the new wage will be P6,000 per month, while in other municipalities, it will increase to P5,000.

Over 233,909 domestic workers in Calabarzon are expected to benefit from this increase, with around 65,408 or 28 percent living under live-in arrangements.

The order was affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) on January 31 and will take effect after a 15-day publication period.

DOLE stated that this adjustment considers the needs of domestic workers and their families, employers' capacity to pay, and current socio-economic conditions in the region.
