DOJ continues Taal Lake search amid bone discoveries

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the search for missing sabungeros in Taal Lake, Batangas, will likely continue for another six months.

Remulla noted that human remains were among the bones recovered from the lake according to recent findings by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The Department of Justice has been working on the case for three years and is now organizing evidence for presentation.

Despite challenges in searching a vast 240-square-kilometer lake, Remulla assured that rigorous scientific methods are being used for identification.

DNA samples from relatives of missing sabungeros have already been secured by Philippine Coast Guard divers, who recovered five sacks with undisclosed contents including suspected charred human bones.

Remulla emphasized the need to endure and wait for results despite the public's desire for immediate updates.
