DOH reports drop in ILI and dengue cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported a decline in influenza-like illness (ILI) and dengue cases from January 1 to February 1, 2025.

Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo noted that ILI cases dropped by 53 percent compared to the same period in 2024, with six deaths recorded this year versus 33 last year.

Domingo highlighted an increasing trend in ILI cases but emphasized it is not alarming and advised Filipinos to follow preventive measures such as hand washing and wearing masks.

He also mentioned that the DOH supports the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advisory regarding increased influenza cases in Japan, urging travelers to be cautious.

Filipino travelers to Japan are encouraged to adhere to the DFA's guidelines due to rising ILI cases there since November 2024, although numbers have started decreasing in January.
