DOH mobilizes hospitals for New Year firecracker injuries

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III has mobilized all hospitals ahead of New Year celebrations.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that many people visit hospitals with injuries from firecrackers during this time.

PHAPI president Dr. Jose de Grano stated that almost all hospitals are on 'red alert' and prepared for any eventualities.

As of Tuesday, the DOH reported 23 firecracker-related injuries involving illegal firecrackers.

Pangasinan's Provincial Health Office has recorded four firecracker-related injuries from December 23 to 25, higher than last year’s three cases during the same period.

The PHO issued a memorandum to provincial government-run hospitals to intensify their preparedness and ensure adequate supplies for treating blast injuries.
